New tank in 2009 for Russia
While Black Eagle design is a step forward it had several deficiences.
Since the crew was sitting almost below turret ring, the whole frontal armor was practically wasted on protecting the buste autoloader behind it, not the crew, which in this configuration was mainly protected by the weaker fontal hull armor.
A more efficient way of distributing the armor with turret where the crew is below the ring would be to making the turret narrower and saving halfth of the frontal armor like Jordanians done on their centurion upgrade.
Also the removable transport-reloading container was extremely lightly armoured, inviting every autocannon, HMG and RPG aiming for it and mission-killing the tank. Unlike T-72 autoloader which is situated in the lowest, least expose part of the tank and additionally protected by the roadwheels, Black Eagles AL was too exposed for it's insufficient armor.
Infact it would be better if the bustle would be part of the turret and only the rounds cassete being removable from above.
Generally T-95 is a much more efficient design then Black Eagle. Instead of moving the rounds around in the turret to reach maximal separation of the crew, it just moves the crew completely out of the turret. A small bulkhead in the frontal hull contaning the whole crew is much easier to protect then driver compartment plus middle hull plus turret like necessary on conventional tanks. It allows to minimize the turret and also frees space in the turret basket to be used for larger two piece ammo.
This design should be able to offer best crew protection of all tanks at <50t weight, provide enough space for two piece 152mm ammo in the basket, and offer a very small turret silhouette. I hope UWZ will not just show the tank 2009 but really start it's serial production. And also not on the current T-90 level but in really sufficient numbers.
